• During the meeting with Honeywell, the Vice Rector (TD&IR) emphasized on the technology development activities to be conducted by Honeywell in its DTV center.
• GE is interested in establishing the technology center in DTV focused on developing technologies related to fuels.
• Meeting with Shell was held focusing on the areas of technology development to be housed in DTV by Shell.
• Meeting with Futureware Company was held to discuss their activities regarding the interaction with KFUPM community.
• Meeting with Yokogawa was held to discuss the extension plot construction work
• Meeting with Hitachi group was held to discuss wider details of collaboration between KFUPM and Hitachi.
• Dresser-Rand/KFUPM/LU Partnership Initiatives lead to recruiting Saudi Lehigh students, inviting candidates during KFUPM Career Days, hiring of a student for the Summer Intern Training Program.
• Two new US patents were issued to KFUPM (US 7,560,711 and US 7,556,222). KFUPM inventors are currently involved in 43 issued patents.
• Two more patents are approved for grant by the USPTO for KFUPM. The patents will be officially issued in the next three months.

• Naizak follow-up of DTV partners meeting on 20 July
  Naizak provided the venues of interaction with KFUPM IT related community by sending the Naizak presentation containing areas of collaboration. The proactive Naizak mail with presentation is forwarded to relevant KFUPM department chairmen and ITC Director.

• Mr. Saleh Al-Shaiban for DTV Media support  
  Al-Gahtani and Halim met with Saleh regarding the recent directive from VR TD&IR regarding Saleh involvement in media campaign of DTV and its entities. Saleh's role and our expectations from him were discussed in details. Saleh will come up with media business plan for DTV and his position in the office of VR TD&IR.

• Monitor Group visit to DTV
  Dr. Iyad Al-Zaharnah organized the meeting with Monitor Group active in  Ministry of Industries long term planning project with special role in innovation and technology development

• DTV partner companies meeting
  This meeting was attended by few DTV companies and limited number of KFUPM officials because of summer break. All the vice rectors, deans, chairs, and technical and business managers were invited with of course DTV companies. The objectives set for this meeting were achieved as the brainstorming was very useful. The next marathon DTV partners meeting is scheduled during early fall semester.

• UOP CEO/President visit to DTV Planned  

• Meeting organization in Mr. Khaled Al-Faleh Office after Ramadhan.

• Siemens CEO’s KFUPM visit follow-up meeting             

• As a follow-up of Siemens CEO visit to KFUPM, the technical Siemens team including Mr. Muhammad Ahmad, Project Manager, and Mr. Zulfiqar Naushad, IT-MES Consultant, visited DTV and discussed different aspects of Siemens participation in DTV. All DTV documentations meant for companies were downloaded on Siemens USB.

• DTV Strategic Committee Meeting
  This meeting was dedicated to Ingenia Company that is already the DTV partner in an Bldg. 28 office space. The presentation includes different venues of collaboration with KFUPM.

• Meeting with Intel Corp representative
  This meeting was second in series where first meeting was held with DTV officials and this meting was attended by Dr. Sadiq Sait (ITC), Dr. Aiman Maleh (COE), Mr. Farhan Khan (ITC), Mr. Tariq Maghrabi (ITC), Mr. Omer Bajaber (Intel), and DTV officials.

• Meeting with Saudi Aramco NBED representative (19 July)
  Regular meetings are held with Mr. Abdullah Al-Garni of NBED Saudi Aramco. The list of companies and there areas of specialization is provided by the Engineering business line of Aramco. This list was reviewed with DTV officials  and companies are selected based on the area of specialization in line with available KFUPM expertise, size of business with Aramco and other Saudi companies, strategic importance for the country, and the brand equity of the company.

  A meeting was held with DTV Partners on Tuesday, 27^th January, 2009.  The meeting was aimed to discuss the status of their activities, problems encountered by them and future plans.  It was decided to hold bi-monthly meeting with DTV Partners.  The next meeting will be held in one of the partners’ offices, such as Aker Solutions during the last week of March, 2009.

• The President of Oslo Research Park, Oslo, Norway, visited DTV and met with HE the Rector, Dr. Faleh Al-Sulaiman, Vice Rector, Technology Development & Industrial Relations and the officials of DTV on Wednesday, January 28, 2009.  A presentation ‘Oslo Research Park in Oslo University’ was given in Building 20 Auditorium during 2 P.M – 4 PM, which was attended by KFUPM Faculty Members.

• DTV Strategic Committee is formed by HE the Rector.  The objective of this committee is to facilitate the operations and plans of DTV.  This committee was chaired by Dr. Faleh Al-Sulaiman, Vice Rector, TD & IR.  Twelve members from the distinguished KFUPM faculty were nominated.

• M/s. Saudi Arabian Amiantit Co. has signed a contract with KFUPM for building research center in Dhahran Techno-Valley.  HE the Rector and Mr. Sulaiman Towajri signed the contract. M/s. Saudi Arabian Amiantit Co. has been allotted 7250 sq.mt. of land for construction.

• Dr. Faleh Al-Sulaiman, Vice Rector, TD & IR made a presentation on Wednesday, 28^th January, 2009, about DTV in Saudi Aramco, R&D, on the invitation of Mr. Omer Abdul Hamid, Manager of Saudi Aramco.  The presentation was well attended and the Q&A session was thought provoking.

• Mr. Abdul Aziz Al-Judaimi, Vice President of Saudi Aramco and his delegation met HE the Rector and KFUPM officials to discuss DTV marketing plan that Saudi Aramco is undertaking to market DTV.  A presentation was given regarding DTV marketing by Saudi Aramco.

• The University Support Service Committee was formed by Dr. Faleh Al-Sulaiman, Vice Rector, TD & IR. The membership of this committee includes DTV officials and the Director Generals of Maintenance, Security & Safety, Housing & Office Services, Project, Materials and Director, Investment & Resources Development Dept, DTV.

•  A Workshop was held on Innovation Activities by KFUPM faculty and was coordinated by Mr. Steve Tolle of Saudi Aramco in SciTech.

•  Mr. Ahmad Khowaiter, Vice President of King Abdulaziz University of Science and Technology visited DTV and discussed subject of mutual interest with Dr. Faleh Al-Sulaiman, Vice Rector, TD & IR and DTV officials.

• A delegation of KFUPM, under the Chairmanship of Dr. Faleh Al-Sulaiman, VR, TD & IR, comprising of Chairmen of Electrical Engineering and Systems Engineering, Director, CCITR of RI and the faculty members of the Systems Engineering, visited Yokogawa.  The objective of the visit was to identify research areas of common interest between Yokogawa and KFUPM.  Four different research areas were identified and Dr. Fouad Al-Sunni was assigned to follow up this collaborative research program.

• Saudi Society of Physicist has requested 3000 sq.mt. of land in DTV to build offices and research centers.

• Saudi Aramco is considering establishing entrepreneurship center in DTV and the discussion is on allocating the center in the Old Administration Building after refurbishing and renewal.

• Tenaris Company is in the final stage of signing the contract to occupy offices and laboratory space in DTV.

	Mr. Saad Al-Hassosah of Arbah Capital, Saudi Arabia & Mr. Mike, Stockford and Mr. James Berlino of Calypso Capital, Hong Kong, visited DTV last week and discussed matter of mutual interest with DTV officials. They are planning to establish a fund in Saudi Arabia that can be used for developing the state-of-the-art technologies related to oil and IT industries in Saudi Arabia. The plan is to house this technology development facility in DTV.
	The MIT team visiting KFUPM was on visit to Scitech where DTV current status and plans were presented. The seven member team was taken for luncheon by DTV and mechanical engineering faculty members/chairman.
	INTEL team comprised of Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Noghaither, General Manager, Saudi Arabia and Mr. Ferhad Patel, Regional Business Manager met with the officials of DTV. The main focus of discussion was the slow activity in INTEL activities in the INTEL laboratory located in DTV. It was urged that the boundaries of INTEL activities in DTV should be pushed and new dimensions should be added. It was agreed by INTEL officials to review the activities and with first time appointed General Manager for Saudi Arabia the activities are expected to be increased.
	Mr. Teruyoshi Minaki, Board Member, Director, Executive Vice President, Yokogawa Electric Corporation, visited KFUPM and was call upon by HE The Rector. The Yokogawa global activities and the planned activities of Yokogawa in newly established Yokogawa building in DTV were focal point of discussion. The details of Yokogawa building inauguration in March 2008 were also discussed. Al-Turki Group has finalized building design for DTV
	A 77 member OPEC team visited Scitech and attended presentation by Dr. Faleh Al-Sulaiman on KFUPM including details of DTV. They later visited Scitech facility and the dinner hosted by HE Dr. Khaled Al-Sultan, Rector, KFUPM
	DTV management team headed by Dr. Faleh Al-Sulaiman, Vice Rector, DTV met with Saudi Aramco Officials and discussed the details of Saudi Aramco involvement in DTV. The Saudi Aramco team was headed by Mr. Essam Al-Baiyat, Senior Vice President New Business Evaluation & Development Department (NBED) and other high Saudi Aramco Officials. It was decided that Saudi Aramco team will discuss the matter internally and get back to us by the end of November 2007.

Effective immediately, Dr. Faleh A. Al-Sulaiman, is appointed as Vice Rector, Dhahran Techno-Valley. He will report to the Rector of the University.

Effective immediately, Mr. Khalid M. Al-Zamil is appointed as Director, Business Incubator and will report to the Vice Rector of the Dhahran Techno-Valley.

The Schlumberger Dhahran Research Center (SDRC) will be inaugurated on Saturday, March 25, 2006. Amongst many dignitaries that will attend the event will be HE Mr. Ali Al-Naimi, HE Dr. Khaled Al-Anqari, HE Dr. Khalid Al-Sultan and Mr. Abdullah Jum'ah. Located within the DTV campus, Schlumberger is the first proud client of the techno-valley to setup their infrastructure in record time a vision of dedication towards promoting research and development in the Middle-East.

Schlumberger’s first research center in the Middle East to be inaugurated in Dhahran

Schlumberger Middle East S.A., will inaugurate a new Research Center in Saudi Arabia in last week of March 2006. The new center, to be known as the Schlumberger Dhahran Research Center (SDRC), SDRC will house state-of-the-art facilities as well as a team of international scientists from all over the world to work on oil and gas industry research projects and collaborate with other research institutes in the GCC region. The center’s activities will focus on te1chnologies for worldwide deployment.
